"Hewlett Packard Service Center Addis Ababa"

A technology service center working on international brand name computers is coming to Addis. Crescent Tech, a computer consultancy and sales company has launched a Hewlett Packard (HP) service center with a total capital of USD 80 million to serve organizations with large networks. Linda Koyonzo, Marketing Manager of Crescent Tech, told Capital that they have supplied the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MOFED) with technological equipment worth 88,000 dollars and they have taken a contract with Ethiopian Airlines for another two years after serving them for the previous two.

Following the opening of the Ethiopian service center, Linda said that they are dealing with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU) to be the service provider for the organizations’ ICT infrastructure.

Among its major services, Crescent Tech offers a wide range of products and provides high-end enterprise solutions to corporate organizations in Africa. The company has opened its office in Ethiopia after Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and has its head quarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Crescent Tech was established in 1998. Now it has over 150 resellers and an extensive distribution Network spread across the East African region. It is a Microsoft Certified Solution provider and HP Gold Partner. It also is a distributor for CISCO, ACER, DELL, TOSHIBA and APC, said Linda.

Crescent Tech has called its service center “HP service center” because it is a gold partner with HP. But other brands can also be serviced at the center, according to the firm’s Account Manager, Nathnael Mamo.

Crescent Tech’s service center is a local service center that has the backing of big vendor giants like HP and Microsoft. It also partners with vendors who provide strategic solutions to corporate customers, HP, Microsoft, EMC, CISCO and ACER.

With increased expansion, comes the problem of backup and recovery. In some environments, virtual server backup still places a performance load on physical servers. Previously, if the legacy server died, organizations in Ethiopia had to call professionals from abroad or transport the server to another country. The HP service center will now alleviate this problem, said Nathnael. Even though it is only a two hour flight from Nairobi to Addis, presence of the service center locally will make a big difference, Linda noted.

Crescent Tech, which has over 10 years experience in information and technology industry provides service for large corporations and public sector clients to small mobile organizations. According to Linda, In order to respond to fast changing global conditions, business enterprises need to become more efficient, and find ways to reduce costs and complexity.

“Enterprises need to employ the Next Generation of servers and storage as a step of mitigating these challenges,” this is where Crescent Tech comes in.
