The Addis-Adama (Nazreth) expressway which is expected to ease the notoriously congested and accident prone Addis-Adama route.
The Ethiopian government has released the design of the new to construct expressway on the Addis Ababa-Adama route.
The 80 km highway will start from the ring road on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, 10km from the interjunction road on Debre Zeit road. Separated by a pavement, the two-way road will have a fence on each side that bars pedestrians and animals from entering the road. The highway, the first of its kind in Ethiopia, will be constructed parallel to the existing Addis Ababa-Adama road, 3.5 km to the west side of the existing road.
The new highway will have an outlet that connects it to the existing road at every town found between Addis Ababa and Adama.
Interchange roads will be built in Dukem, Akaki Bishoftu and Mojdo towns. It will also have street lights and be wide enough to accommodate three cars at a time. The government plans to put toll booth on the highway and to charge motorists fees to use the road.
The expressway’s design, released by the government this week, will be the first for Ethiopia and is expected to take two years to complete. The project is touted to be a key cornerstone of the government’s ambitious Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) as unveiled by Prime Minister Meles Zenawi last September.
this is is the right time to invest our money in our country
A bit hurry, we need first to dissolve the present issues of life.
With out life, no need of road.
Stop political game and play on rescue our Ethiopian people.
John we can build Ethiopia while we have political differences that the best part I am appreciating about this government
Let’s be fair this roads are built in Ethiopia not somewhere else so we should accept the reality.
