
Girmay Gebremichael is accused of embezzling over 45 million birr from citizens during the 20th World Cup in South Africa.
Askalukan Trading Plc Managing Director, Girmay Gebremichael, who was accused of collecting over 45 million birr from citizens saying that he would take them to South Africa to attend the 20th World Cup, and disappeared from the country is extradited to Ethiopia.
The suspect was handed over to Ethiopia Friday from Germany in an effort the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Police of Ethiopia made in cooperation with the Government of Germany, where he was hiding.
Interpol Ethiopian Division Head, Commander Yemane Gessesew said the arrest of the suspect depicts that any one that involves in criminal acts cannot escape to be accountable to the law.
More than 1,200 citizens were cheated their money and faced difficulties by what happened at the season of the 20th FIFA World Cup.
