Ethiopia takes over presidency of U.N. Security Council from Egypt
Ethiopia in June 2016, won a ‘non permanent’ seat on the UNSC, and officially commenced its two year tenure in January this year.

Ethiopia today (September 1) takes over the presidency of U.N. Security Council (UNSC) from Egypt who chaired the council’s activities in August 2017.

The presidency of the Council is held by each of the members in turn for one month, following the English alphabetical order of the Member States names.
