April 26, 2017 – The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) plans to build its East Africa coordination office in Addis Ababa at a cost of 300 million USD, according to ENA report.
FIFA has agreed to open a regional office in Addis Ababa within four months, during the 39th General Assembly of CAF held last month in here, in which its president Gianni Infantino had attended.
FIFA extended the money following the request of the Ethiopian Football Federation, Wondimkun Alayu, head of the Federation told ENA.
Wondimu said that efforts are being underway to secure a place where the FIFA regional office will be built.
Upon fully operational, the office will serve particularly the eastern African countries in getting the necessary support and strengthening their relationships with FIFA.
The Addis Ababa office will raise the number of regional offices of FIFA in Africa to three, after Senegal and South Africa. (ENA)
