An Ethiopian Ginbot 7 member has appeared in court charged with terror offences after he was arrested at Heathrow Airport.
Tadesse Kersmo, 51, is accused of attending a place used for terrorist training, in Eritrea, and eight counts of possessing articles useful for terrorism.
He was held on his return to the UK on January 4 and appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates’ Court wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.
He spoke on Wednesday to confirm his name, address and date of birth before indicating not-guilty pleas to all nine of the charges.
He is alleged to have had copies of four electronic documents on two dates, September 27 last year and January 4.
This included a sniper training manual published by the US military.
Another entitled ‘The Compilation of Security and Intelligence Principles’ is believed to have been issued by a jihadist group, according to the charge.
The other two were named ‘The Mini-manual of the Urban Guerrilla’ and ‘Put ’em down, Take ’em out! Knife Fighting Techniques from the Prison’.
